I have a BA in Italian and Art History(UCL) and an MA in Art History and Critical Theory (UCL).
I am currently working on my doctoral thesis which is exploring the visual and ritual processes concerning the foot in the Early Modern period. Specifically I am looking at practices such as touching the feet of sacred sculpture, kissing the feet of paintings, footprint stones and bodily relics as well as dirty feet in paintings by Caravaggio. My work addresses issues around the body, knowledge and collecting.
I am currently embarking on a new project involving the topic of the ‘ground’ and am convening a session at the Association of Art Historians annual conference in 2015 on ground, soil, dirt and earth, stones and rocks.
